About

Punk meets Professionalism -
Only Children but not Alone

Jade Ollerenshaw (Event Manager at Above & Beyond Production Services (AABPS)) and Jeff Cregan (Audio & Lighting Technician, Freelancer) have been friends since high school, working apart for 20 years, and have now traded shared beers (not always!) for business.

Jeff had a passion for music from a really young age, singing and recording in several metal bands throughout his time in QLD and Melbourne, whilst working in several Production Companies (IJS, Monitor City, AABPS).

Jade studied to be an actress, performing in several theatre productions and working overseas in a corporate environment. With all her free time and money going to punk gigs, theatre performances, and festivals, upon returning to Australia finally conceded that she has more talent managing behind the stage than on it.

The two of them have formed 'Only Child Productions', bringing their first ticketed event to life next Friday night- and are bringing their friends and industry knowledge with them.

'We are very lucky to have amazing companies supporting us! Jez Nolan and his team at AABPS has taught me the technical essentials of lighting, pre-visualisation, and choosing the best lights within budget for the right environment. He encourages us to learn the products we own and increase our knowledge whenever possible'.

Clearlight Shows, who carry complementary fixtures for sale and hire, showcased their new lines recently, and Jade was lucky enough to win a lighting package!

‘Clearlight's amazing hire prize had to be used this year, so it was really a kickstarter to action. Martin and Michael were kind enough to entrust us to use their newest fixtures, including the Infinity Furion FX402 Bar - this will be the first time this product rolls out to a show in Australia!'

Roping in their friend Mario Laughlin (Rigger, Lighting Technician & Operator, Freelancer) to be the Lighting Programmer and Operator, they have used the opportunity to upskill to GrandMA3, encouraging experienced and up and coming operators alike to join them and each program a song to be combined into a 'super series of super cuelists for the super song list'.

‘We're lucky enough to work with many talented operators - we've had advice and assistance from Luke Thiel, Duane Inocencio, and Dan Evans to name but a few - Dan was even generous enough to lend us his console when the AABPS product was in high demand!’

'We're so excited by many aspects of this. Punk Rock is a genre with a very loyal, but small in numbers, following. Punk bands often don't get the production value that bands and DJ's of a similar size in other types of music do. Let’s change that!'

With talented musicians who have toured Europe and released albums, this night is for those who want to be a part of a professional event - either on or off the stage!

The first iteration of Punk Rock Karaoke was at The Quad Club in Brunswick, Friday 21st of November, 2025.

Huge thanks to everyone who attended, and hope to catch you at the next one!
